Crazy Night In College Hoops

  • Pitt's 31 Game Home Win Streak Snapped by Georgetown
  • Memphis' Conference Win Streak Halted at 64 by UTEP
  • Duke is upset by NC State sending the Blue Devils to 0-3 on the road this season and losers of six out eight ACC road games.
  • UNC loses for the third time in a row, a first under Roy Williams. They have lost four out of their last five, two of the losses (Clemson and Wake Forest) ranking in the top five worst defeats during the Roy Williams era. Earlier this season they lost to Syracuse which also is on the list for worst losses.

UCONN Women

I dont pay too much attention to the women's game, I know Uconn, tenn, duke, stanford, unc are usually the powers of the country. But I cant help but notice how dominating these Lady Huskies are. 70-46 over #3 Notre Dame, 81-48 over #7 Duke, 57 in a row, really? These girls got game, I think they need to be bumped up to the WNBA. I give props to them for such a dominating stretch and if they lose it will be an upset like no other. I wouldnt mind seeing them scrimmage the men's team. I'm rooting for this dynasty to continue.

Orange Bowl Champs

As most of you know the Iowa Hawkeyes beat Georgia Tech 24-14 to claim the Orange Bowl. Like usual the defense stepped up and attacked an offense that many thought would score often against the hawks. On the first drive when the hawks fumbled I thought great this could be a long game for the offense. But then they jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead which I didnt expect. I also didnt expect the defense to really take hold of the game, I thought they would win it (allow over 200yds maybe 20pts) but not dominate it. I know this is playing the "if" game but I think had stanzi not thrown the pick 6 and the hawks recieved the ball in the 2nd half instead of GT it would have been a shutout. I was very impressed with the outcome of this game. I'm very optimistic and excited for next season as we should be as good if not better and possibly contend for a national championship.(no more tebow, mccoy, ohio state comes to kinnick this year)

*Note* The hawks best OL and Big Ten's OL of the year award winner Bryan Bulaga has declared for the NFL Draft. I wish him the best of luck.

Go HAWKS!!
